Description

Six reconstruction illustrations and one general illustration depicting Restormel Castle and its component structures throughout its history, created by various illustrators between 1971 and 2001 and reproduced in several English Heritage guidebooks for the site.

The set includes five watercolour reconstruction illustrations created by Terry Ball in 1994, depicting the shell keep and its component buildings. There is also a reconstruction illustration showing the interior of the shell keep, created by Alan Sorrell in 1971. A further illustration by Peter Dunn in 2001 shows a present-day aerial view of the entire site.

There is also one black and white preliminary sketch, created by Peter Dunn, and twenty-eight black and white and one colour sketches created by Terry Ball. Alongside these are eighteen black and white sketches and some backup material created by Francis Kelly. None of these items have been catalogued at item level.
