Description

Eight reconstruction illustrations and one sheet of general illustrations depicting Whitby Abbey, and neighbouring Abbey House. The illustrations were created between 2001 and 2010 by illustrators Peter Dunn, Judith Dobie and Liam Wales, and were largely commissioned in order to be reproduced in English Heritage's series of guidebooks for Whitby Abbey.

In addition, one painting from 1979, believed to have been created for a poster, showing the abbey silhouetted against an orange sky.

There are also two black and white preliminary sketches and some additional backup material, created by Peter Dunn. These have not been catalogued at item level.
