The illustrations were created by illustrators Peter Dunn and Phil Kenning between circa 1995 and circa 2010. Three of the illustrations by Phil Kenning were reproduced in the 2010 English Heritage publication entitled 'Defending Scilly', by Mark Bowden and Allan Brodie.

The illustrations include depictions of the following sites: Nornour Prehistoric Settlement, Halangy Down Ancient Village, Old Town and the Quarantine Station (Pest House) on St. Mary's, King Charles' Castle and Cromwell's Castle on Tresco, and the Woolpack Battery at Garrison Walls on St. Mary's.
