Description

Photograph album labelled 'No. 11' containing 58 prints showing the construction of Section 3 of the Bank of England. Included are general views of the site and details showing underpinning holes, low level tunnel, dumpling excavations and shuttering and steel reinforcement. Also included are photographs of archaeological items found on site including Roman mosaic and tessellated pavement (circa 130/50 AD), Roman barrels, foundations of the Church of St Christopher le Stocks and lead coffin plates and headstones from old burial ground.

Archival History

Laing Construction took over the London firm of Holloways in 1964. It is presumed that the photograph album was acquired at this point.
