Description

Photograph album labelled 'Housing: Exhibition Houses' containing 40 prints featuring various different housing exhibitions. There are photographs of the Queen's informal visit to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government's exhibition 'New Homes from Old Houses' in Holles Street and views of the official opening of the exhibition on 16 June 1954. Also included are details of the plumbing unit installed in the Ministry of Work's Frost Proof House exhibited at the Ideal Home Exhibition in Olympia, 1957, views showing the construction of 'The People's House' exhibit for the Ministry of Housing and Local Government with shots also showing completed interior and the Queen's visit on 2 March 1953, views of unidentified exhibition houses being constructed and visited on completion by the Royal Family in 1948 and exterior and interior views of the 'Olympia House' shown at the Daily Mail Exhibition in 1936. The latter was advertised as a show home for 'Laing's 10 Estates' which were being built at the time at Enfield West, Edgware, Mill Hill (2), Canon's Park (2), Queensbury, Purley, Shooters Hill and Cranford.
