Description

Photograph album containing 94 black and white prints documenting the construction of the M1 motorway, dating from 1958 - 1959. These include views of line of road looking north prior to work and construction carried out on structures 27, 70, 74, 84, 85 and sections A1, A2, A3, B, B3, C3, D2, D1. Also included is a photographic copy of a Terence Cuneo painting and photographs showing machinery at work and details of telecommunications, prototype lamppost at bridge no. 69, site offices, catering, staff having tea break, project nurse and 13 prints of the M6 project dating from 1959 - 1960 including construction of a footbridge at Newport Pagnell Service Area and Father J Nolan speaking to an Irish labourer.
