Photograph album labelled 'Power Stations : Portishead 'B' 2' containing 83 black and white prints showing the construction of the power station and ancillary buildings such as the ash plant house, ash settling pits, coal store and coal handling plant. Included are general images of the construction site taken from Portishead 'A' power station as well as photographs showing men carrying out repointing work on chimney, details of floating beam in ash settling pit, pre-stressed beams for welfare block, interior of operations block showing control room, turbo-alternator, interior of water treatment plant, ash settling pits, return water pumps and treated water tank.
Portishead's original power station was built between 1926 and 1929. It became known as power station 'A' when work began on constructing an adjacent power station - Portishead 'B' - after the Second World War.
