Description

Photograph album labelled 'Power Stations : Portishead 'B' 3.' containing 65 black and white prints showing general views of construction as well as more detailed images documenting construction of time and pay office, tippler, dismantling of jib of 18 ton derrrick, coal handling plant, ash settling pits and interior views of turbine block and welfare block showing shower room and staff dining room.

Portishead's original power station was built between 1926 and 1929. It became known as power station 'A' when work began on constructing an adjacent power station - Portishead 'B' - after the Second World War.
