Description

Photograph album labelled 'Railway Works' containing 85 black and white prints documenting various different railway works contracts such as widening of railway track between Folkstone Central and Cheriton (3 July 1961), and widening of railway track between Newington and Rainham including photographs showing demolition of Otterham Quay Lane Bridge, Rainham on 10 November 1957.

Other projects include drilling for blasting charges for Colville's Ltd, Shap, images of completed amenities block at Upperby Goods Yard in Carlisle including interior views of time and wages office, locker room and canteen for railway workers (1958), alterations for Workington Motive Power Department with views showing new diesel stabling and construction of steam locomotive shed (1954 - 1955) and photographs of signal box in Carlisle, exterior view of Burnt Oak Station and railway platform kiosk bar (circa 1949).

The album also includes images of a sculptured wall produced from polystyrene moulding at Charing Cross Station, Glasgow being uncovered and inspected by sculptor Charles Anderson (1969).
