Description

Photograph album, entitled 'Medway Towns Motor Road' containing 69 black and white prints showing the construction of the M2 / M20. Included are views showing route of motorway prior to work being carried out and initial soil stripping and top soiling work, as well as views of Mintching Wood being cleared. The initial stages of construction are documented for Bottom Pond Valley viaduct, the A251 interchange, the Brenley Corner interchange and bridges at Broadoak, Rawlins Street, Strippington Road, Brenley Orchard, St Catherines, Hunt Kennels, Clockhouse, Brogdale Road, Primrose Lane, Sharstead Farm, Silver Street, Stiff Street and Ruinsbarn Road. Also included are photographs showing soil engineers at work, McKinney's Pile at Clockhouse bridge undergoing loading tests and views of an adapted landrover vehicle with a perspex top built for observation purposes.
