Photograph album, labelled 'No. 15', containing 61 black and white prints showing the construction of the 'new' Bank of England. Between 1925 and 1939 the 'Old Bank' was demolished and a new building designed by Sir Herbert Baker was constructed on the same site in Threadneedle Street, incorporating elements from Sir John Soane's old Bank of England. The album contains views of the Garden Court; Bullion Yard; heating coils in the domes over the Issue and Intellers Office; steelwork and shuttering to domes; various elevations; water coolers and shuttering on the roof; various elevations; Tivoli Corner; lanterns and saucer domes under construction; engine room; and compressors for the refrigeration plant.
Laing Construction took over the London firm of Holloways in 1964. It is presumed that the photograph album was acquired at this point.
