A folder containing 268 colour 35mm slides, created by Philip Kaplan between 1967 and 1990. The slides show military airfields in Britain, used by the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War. Coverage includes military structures such as control towers, runways, Nissen and Maycrete huts, aircraft hangars, and parachute lofts, alongside objects and murals found at the airfields. The sites shown in the slides in this folder are: RAF Hardwick, RAF Deenethorpe, RAF Framlingham, RAF Grafton Underwood, RAF Knettishall, RAF Lavenham, RAF Nuthampstead, RAF Thorpe Abbotts, RAF Rattlesden, RAF Horham, RAF Ludford Magna, RAF Ridgewell, RAF Bungay, RAF Bury St Edmunds, RAF Kimbolton, RAF Halesworth, RAF Shipdham, RAF Mendlesham, RAF Wymeswold, RAF Swannington, RAF Woolfox Lodge, RAF Bruntingthorpe, RAF Polebrook, RAF Tangmere, RAF Kings Cliffe, RAF Bodney, RAF Great Ashfield, RAF Goxhill, and RAF Martlesham Heath. 91 of the slides have been individually catalogued to item level.
