Description

Folder 15 contains 164 colour slides relating to Second World War airfields and structures at RAF Tangmere, RAF Hawkinge, RAF Detling, RAF Lympne, RAF Kenley, RAF Exeter, RAF Hornchurch, RAF Redhill, RAF Horsham St Faith and the chain home radar station at RAF Pevensey. The images also show the Battle of Britain Bunker at RAF Uxbridge, St George's RAF Chapel of Remembrance, the Czechoslovak Memorial at Brookwood, tank traps at Cripp's Corner in East Sussex, The White Hart pub in Brasted, the Battle of Britain pub sign in Gravesend, the Shepherd's pub in London, a certificate and badge, and portraits of a person wearing an air crewman's flight gear. There are also photographic copies of wartime propaganda posters, illustrations of wartime aircraft and portraits of RAF officers drawn in 1940 by Cuthbert Orde. A selection of the slides has been catalogued to item level.
