Description

Folder 22 contains 346 colour slides relating to Second World War airfields and structures at RAF Steeple Morden, RAF Little Walden, RAF Twinwood Farm, RAF Kings Cliffe, RAF Bottisham (including wall art painted by USAAF servicemen), RAF Raydon, RAF Goxhill, RAF Martlesham, a memorial plaque and wall paintings at RAF Fowlmere, RAF Tangmere, and RAF Goxhill. Other sites are also shown, including an air show at Atlanta in the US, The Chequers pub in Fowlmere, cockpits and planes at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, a military grave at Debden, Audley End railway station, and sites in France including the Liberation Memorial in Normandy (Normandie), Utah Beach, Longues-sur-Mer, Crisbec, Omaha Beach, and Sainte-Mère-Église Church. Also included are portraits of people and Second World War artefacts, including some that are courtesy of a third party. A selection of the slides has been catalogued to item level.
