229 sheets relating to recording, maintenance, consolidation and restoration of the castle. The earliest sheets are plans by W H Knowles from 1897, but the majority of sheets date from the 1950s to the 1990s.
There are various plans from between 1952 and 1959, and some sheets relating to areas of the site to be purchased by the Ministry of Works, from 1960 to 1964. There are also electrical installation drawings from between 1966 and 1968, and some 1967 drawings relating to a new car park.
From the mid-1970s, there are sheets relating to excavations, openings and new oak shutters, and roof trusses. Between 1978 and 1982 there are a variety of survey drawings, including a topographic survey from 1979, leading to restoration and consolidation drawings from between 1983 and 1989. Also included, from between 1983 and 1985, are electrical services drawings, proposals for a new custody point, and two hand-tinted drawings on stiff board showing the roof and chamber. From 1990, there are proposal drawings for new public toilets.
A large number of sketch elevations are included, dating from the late 1980s and probably relating to a photogrammetric survey. Several sheets of photogrammetric elevations of a similar vintage are included, for reproduction in an unidentified publication.
The most recent sheets date from between 1991 and 1995 and document a survey of the castle's kitchen range roof.
