Description

258 sheets dating from 1896 to 1991. The earliest sheet is an Ordnance Survey map from the edition of 1896, and there are other similar sheets included, from 1914-15, 1920 and 1938.

There are a number of sheets from between 1914 and 1928 outlining Office of Works activities on the site, including details of excavations, and a new footbridge, water supply, gates and boundary railings.

From between 1933 and 1955 there are drawings for a proposed custodian's hut for the site; a more detailed set from 1967 showing a new design are also included.

There is a Royal Engineers map from 1940 showing a proposed ammunition depot to be sited to the south-west of the site.

A variety of sheets from the 1980s are included, such as an electrical installation drawing from 1984, drawings of a new concrete retaining wall from 1985 and condition survey and remedial drawings of the bridge from 1986. Other safety works are covered in a set of drawings dating from between 1989 and 1991.

The largest set of drawings are sketches from 1990 by an unidentified maker, showing full-size profiles and tracery details from the surviving Priory structures.
