Description
824 drawings dating largely from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s with a few from the early twentieth century. In the 1960s there are drawings of the east range and church, with further surveys of the church in the early 1970s plus some photogrammetric surveys in the late 1980s.
From the 1970s are drawings of a new screen for the south wall of the church and roof for over the crossing, plus designs for a series of display panels. In the 1980s and 90s there are many proposals for the conversion of the site for use by visitors and commercially, including scaffolding and reinforcement details and electrical requirements. Many drawings from this period are concerning the consolidation and repair of the south range, including its roof trusses, carrels, windows and the loading bay.
There are also drawings of the south range as it was in the thirteenth and sixteenth century. Also in the 1980s and 90s there are drawings of Ladybellegate Street and proposals for its conversion, plus rectified photography of the perimeter wall and topographical surveys of the site.
Archival History
A folder of drawings dating from the 1970s and the early 1980s, were found and catalogued after the rest of the site, so are at the end of the catalogue (MP/GRB0630 - 0735) rather than part of the date sequence.
