Description

215 sheets of drawings of Helmsley Castle and its associated buildings, including phased site plans from the 1920s to 1965; general site plans from the early twentieth-century; sheets relating to a proposed new entrance and approach road from 1929-1930 and bridges for the south, inner and north moats and the river Rye, made between 1924 and 1959.

From the 1920s to the 1980s there are elevations, plans, electrical services, repair record and lightning protection drawings of the west range and east tower. Some drawings from 1988 relate to improvements to circulation in the west range.

Other buildings and parts of the site which have been surveyed include the custodian's cottage, the barbican and its gatehouse, and the bakehouse.

There is a topographical survey from 2002, and orthophotography and sections of the west tower from 2014.
