Description

The 319 drawings of the Medieval Bishops' Palace range in date from 1953 to 2000.

The earliest drawings are deed and location plans made by the Ministry of Works in the early 1950s. Also from the 1950s are drawings of a chargehand's dwelling for the site and a site survey from 1958 which was amended up until 1971.

From the 1960s there are sheets of plans, sections and elevations, plans for a scheme for disposal of rain water, levelled plan and section drawings of improvements to the drainage and re-turfing of the east hall and plans from excavations in 1967 and 1968.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the Department for the Environment produced publication drawings, a site survey, design drawings for a new ticket office and a photogrammetric survey of the kitchens and Alnwick Tower.

There are various other drawings from the late 1980s and early 1990s, including small photogrammetric surveys and some electrical diagrams for lightning protection for the Alnwick Tower.

In the 1990s, English Heritage produced a scheme for a new gate, drawings showing repairs to the kitchen and chapel stairway, drawings relating to consolidation works and waterproofing for the east hall, and a design for timber steps for the east hall. Mason Land Surveys Ltd and the City of Lincoln Archaeological Unit produced photogrammetric surveys of the site and TSG Survey Services completed a new site plan.

There are a group of proposal and development drawings for the walled terrace garden from 2000.
