A series of 124 sheets concerning the management, survey, restoration and improvement of Pickering Castle, created by English Heritage and its predecessor and partner organisations between 1912 and 2003, with the majority of the sheets dating from the mid-1980s onwards. The folder contains maps, plans, elevation, sections, sketches, designs schemes, survey plans and photogrammetric surveys.
There are a number of drawings dating from the late 1920s that relate to repairs and restorations needed in the Diate Hill Tower at the castle. Reproduction plans from 1931 and 1969 are also included, some of which are oversized.
There are also sheets from the mid-1980s relating to the conversion of the barn and stable block into a new visitors' centre.
During 1990, several surveys of the castle site and its buildings were carried out; there is a group of preliminary survey drawings of Rosamund's Tower and a group of final survey drawings of the same tower. There is also a series of survey plans of the entire castle site created in 1990. Also dating from 1990 are several sheets concerning repairs to the windows and door of the chapel at the castle, and a few sheets showing designs for a new communion table and rail in the chapel.
There is a group of drawings dating from 1991-1992 that show design schemes for a new shop / ticket office and exhibition space at the site.
