Description

346 drawings covering Castle Hill and including the remains of the medieval castle as well as the Roman signal station and the post-medieval Master Gunner's House. There are also a number of drawings of the cliffs themselves.

The collection, which is predominantly twentieth century in date, includes copies of eighteenth century drawings of the castle. There are site plans; elevations recording the remains of the extant masonry of the keep and south-west curtain wall; photogrammetrically-derived drawings, service diagrams and proposal drawings for custodian's huts and public toilets.

Additional sheets include many site plans, photogrammetric drawings of the south-west curtain wall and keep, drawings for the restoration of the Master Gunner's House and proposals for a viewing platform for the town battery. One oversized drawing is a plan of the site including the earthworks.
