259 measured drawings relating to the recent military occupation of St Mawes Castle, and its maintenance and upkeep since its transfer to guardianship in 1919.
The earliest drawings are mainly copies of War Department plans and maps from c.1715, including details of improvements, particularly to the Sea Battery, between 1839 and 1870, and proposals for a battery with 2.12 and twelve-pounder guns 1902.
There are deed and site plans relating to the transfer to guardianship in 1919; a general survey of the castle, magazines and latrines in the 1920s; plans of the caretaker's quarters 1925; a new timber balcony in the south-west bastion 1920s; sash windows for the custodian's house 1920s; new lead roof for the keep 1937 and 1990; proposed extension to the car park 1953-1955; proposed additional urinal in existing lavatories 1961-2; damage and repairs to the sea wall 1962; a proposed refreshment kiosk 1963; roofing of the west bastion 1963 and 1965-1966; proposed alterations to the custodian's cottage 1963; display of arms and armour 1968; improvements to the public lavatories 1960s-1970s, 1974; a survey of St Mawes Battery 1990-1991; electrical supply and distribution systems 1985, 1992-1993; and repairs to the pond 1995.
There is also a site plan showing project areas submitted to the Heritage Lottery 1995-2000, and a sheet from 2007-2008 showing access improvements.
