The 242 drawings of Tintagel Castle range in date from the early seventeenth-century to 2008.
The earliest drawings are twentieth-century reproductions of plans and drawings of the island and castle by such people as John Norden, Dr William Borlase, Spry and Reverend William Iago.
There are forty-six drawings from the 1930s excavations directed by C A Ralegh Radford for HM Office of Works.
In October 1987 M J Rees and Co. Ltd. conducted a topographical survey of the site on behalf of English Heritage for proposed public access.
During 1988 Cornwall Archaeological Unit excavated the Inner Ward and Chapel on behalf of English Heritage resulting in twenty-one publication drawings.
A photogrammetrically-derived topographical survey of the site was carried out by AMC Ltd. on behalf of English Heritage in March 1990 resulting in five drawings.
From the late 1940s to the late 1980s there are various water supply and drainage and electrical service drawings for structures such as the cafe, shop and toilets. Also included are proposal, design and construction drawings for a new footbridge, railings and fences, concrete steps, toilets and reinforcement of cliff faces. Additional plans concerning the erection or development of a staff and visitors centre were created and six oversized drawings of site plans have also been added.
