Description

A volume entitled '24 Views of Reading', published by Alfred Rawlings. The album contains half-tone prints, created between 1894 and 1914, showing views of Reading and the surrounding countryside and villages. Rawlings (1855-1939) was born in Hackney, London, and later moved to Reading from Guildford in 1894. He had a shop at The Arcade, on the corner of Friar Street, which he occupied until his retirement in 1914. He was a founder member of the Reading Guild of Artists, and also founder of the Berkshire Art Society.
