Description

An album containing 105 mounted prints, most of which are captioned and 19 loose prints, many of which are unidentified. In addition, there are 4 loose prints which are duplicates of mounted prints.

The photographs show formal gardens in England, Scotland and France. While some of the gardens were designed by Francis Inigo Thomas, others were photographed by him, presumably as inspiration for his designs. Francis Inigo Thomas (1865-1950) was a garden designer and architect. His major works included the design of gardens at Athelhampton Hall, Dorset, Barrow Court, Somerset and Rotherfield Hall, East Sussex; photographs of each of these sites are represented in the album. His designs often included follies and terraces.
