Remains of Carclew House, Mylor - Cornwall (UA)
The remains of Carclew House are the formal centre of a Registered park and garden also at risk. Started in 1720 by Samuel Kemp, this palladian style house was one of Cornwall's finer C18 country houses but was partly burned down in 1934. It is now a ruin, overgrown and neglected, in private ownership next to the owners home in a private garden. Vegetation management is completed and an ongoing with a program of repairs has started. A steering group has been established with the owners of Carclew House and a Conservation Management Statement for the site is in preparation.
