The Mound known as Saxon’s Lowe 500m south east of Tittensor Chase survives as a prominent landscape feature and will contain important archaeological and environmental evidence relating to its nature, date, construction and use.

Details
This record was the subject of a minor enhancement on 12 June 2015. The record has been generated from an "old county number" (OCN) scheduling record. These are monuments that were not reviewed under the Monuments Protection Programme and are some of our oldest designation records.
The monument includes an artificial mound situated on a natural hill approximately 1km to the west of the River Trent. The circular mound measures approximately 60m in diameter and appears to be situated on top of what may be a natural feature. The precise function and date of the monument has not been confirmed. Quarrying appears to have taken place within the monument.
