II

Farmhouse, C18 on earlier core, rubble stone with slate roofs and end stacks. Two storeys and attic. Two gabled dormers each with paired 12-pane sashes. Main front has flush beaded mullion windows, one 2-light and two 3-lights above, two 2-lights with
hoodmoulds, door in enclosed flat-headed stone porch with depressed-arched entry and one 3-light below. Parallel rear range and projecting north wing. Farmhouse was previously known as Clapcote Farm, held in 1243 by the Fitzurse family and in mid C15
by the Blount family of Bitton. Part of the Neeld estate from 1851. (J.E. Jackson, The Topographical Collections of John Aubrey FRS, 1862, 128)
