II

Pair of cottages, now house, early C18, 1785 (dated) and C20,
rubble stone and stone tiled roofs. Earliest range to right, two
and-a-half storeys, gabled to street. Bead-moulded single light to
attic and two 2-light first floor windows. Ground floor 3-light
window with dripstone, C20 sash, replacing door, and C20 canted bay
window. To left is 2 storey range, originally a one window range
cottage of 1785 doubled in size in C20. Coped right end gable with
saddlestone, C20 ridge stack and reset left end coping with C20 end
wall stack. Original range has paired 12-pane sashes in flush
surround and datestone S.A.1785, for S. Aldbourne, to first floor,
ground floor 3-light cyma-moulded mullion window with dripstone and
sash centre light. Door with hood on brackets. C20 range has
unmoulded 3-light mullion windows. House is on unnamed lane running
north from The Green.
