20.12.60 and walls (Formerly listed as Willow
House)
GV II
House, dated 1730, built for S. Aldbourne; ashlar with stone tiled
roof, coped gables and ashlar end wall stacks. 3 storey, 5-window
range formal south front with channelled angle pilasters, plinth, 2
string courses, moulded cornice, parapet and small central
pediment with cartouche dated 1730. Windows segment-headed in
raised moulded surrounds, bead-moulded inner edge. 6-pane attic
windows. Ground and first floor windows with keystones to
surrounds, central first floor window is round-headed with
keystone, imposts and moulded spandrels to surround. 12-pane
sashes. Central doorcase, segmental arched with keystone, broken
pediment on scroll brackets over. Fielded panel door with
segmental overlight. 4 stone steps with C20 iron rails up.
Attached to house is coped stone garden wall ramped up to house and
to central stone gate piers with caps and ball finials. C20
wrought iron gates. To rear west side, 1908 2 storey range, not
of special interest.
Interior: Fine panelled room to ground floor right. Stone vaulted
cellar.
