Details

COLERNE MARKET PLACE ST 8271 (south side) 8/294 Charcoal House and front railings GV II House, mid C18 reconstructed 1842 as service wing of The Rectory (q.v.). Stuccoed rubble stone with ashlar dressings and low- pitched concrete tile eaves roof with corniced ashlar west end stack. 2-storeys. Windows in raised moulded stone surrounds, apparently C18.Three 12-pane sashes to first floor. Ground floor, from left, pair of 12-pane sashes in moulded surrounds with single sill and detached moulded cornice over, door in plain stone surround with heavy ridged stone hood on brackets and 12-pane sash to right. 6-panel door, 2 glazed. Parallel rear range 1842 with ashlar 2-storey range to left and stuccoed gable with ashlar quoins to right, pair to gable to rear of the Rectory. In front of house and to right, spearhead iron railings on stone kerb.
