CLARENDON PARK SHUTE END ROAD (east side) West Lodge and Gates, Clarendon Park

II

Lodge to western driveway to Clarendon Park (q.v.). 1837 possibiy by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. Yellow brick with stone dressings and slate roof. Single storey and attic, 2 bays, with central entrance, a boarded and nail decorated door. Flanking 3-light stone-mullioned windows containing paned lights. Parapet ending in Flemish shaped gables with bronze finial pennants. Round gable over door. Two keeled brick chimneys to rear and C20 lean-to service rooms. Blank shields in panels in gable ends. Iron railings and gates on stone piers with diminished tops and chamfered corners. (B. Ferry, Recollection of A.N. Welby Pugin (1863), 98)
