IDLICOTE SP2844 8/154 Badger's Cottage

GV II

Two cottages, now one house. Early C18 with later extensions and alterations. Coursed squared blocks of limestone. Steeply pitched thatched roof. Brick ridge and end stacks. Single storey plus attic. 4-window range. Entrance to left has plank door and wood frame. Thatched canopy porch. Entrance is flanked by C20 casements with glazing bars. To left a 2-light C20 casement. To right two 2-light C20 casements. Ground floor windows have stone lintels. Attic has 4 half-dormers. Interior: stop-chamfered bressumers, inglenook fireplaces with bread ovens. Chamfered beams. C20 staircase in circular well which is said to have contained a wood spiral staircase. Interior stud partition.
