Details
NZ 26 SE NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE NEW BRIDGE STREET (south side) 12/415 Priory of St. Dominic G.V. II Roman Catholic priory. Foundation stone dated 1887. By Dunn and Hansom. Flemish bond brick with terra cotta dressings; Welsh slate roof. Gothic style. 2 storeys, 4 bays. Pent roof to porch in third bay (containing half-glazed door with side and overlights with glazing bars and coloured glass. Cusped windows of 2, 3 and 4 lights, and lancets in sides of canted second bay; spiral-stopped drip moulds; sloping sills and moulded surrounds to all windows. First floor sill and lintel strings, the latter with mask decoration. Roll-moulded eaves coping to steeply pitched roofs, octagonal over canted bay, with end and rear conjoined and corniced octagonal brick chimneys.
