Details

TG 2208 SE GENTLEMAN'S WALK (west side) (formerly listed under Market Place) 22/352 26.2.54 No. 37 (formerly listed with Nos. 34 and 35 under Market Place) GV II Former use unknown, now public house. Circa 1500 with C18 onwards alterations and late C18 east addition. Rendered timber-frame and rendered brick. Pantile roof. Corner site. Market Place elevation:- 3 storeys, jettied at first and second floors. Two second-floor windows. Single bay to left. 4 storeys. Greek Doric pub front with central door and 4 steps up. Sash windows and one casement. Box cornice. 2 dormer gables. The late C18 addition has a corner pub front with corner door and pilasters with carved consoles supporting canopy. Semi-circular bay window at first floor with sash windows with glazing bars and wrought-iron balcony above. Door at second floor with moulded semi elliptical arch. Stringcourse between 2nd and 3rd floors. Small bracket cornice. Hipped roof. C15 windows with cusped arches at first floor.
