- Stables north of Dunston Hill Hospital
GV II
Stables to Dunston Hill. Late C18-early C19. 2 central bays ashlar; remainder coursed squared sandstone, with ashlar dressings and quoins, and plinth. Roof of Lakeland slate with flat stone gable coping on square kneelers. L-plan. 2-storey, 2-bay centre; one-storey 2 bays either side, and one-storey 2-bay wing breaking forward at left. Central gable has 2 segmental-headed carriage entrances under small square windows with sill band; painted clock dial in stone surround in gable peak. Square louvred bell cote. One-storey sections either side have 2 high round-headed doors; square-headed stair entrance left of gable. Left wing running forward has outer stair to loft door. Raised stone surrounds to windows and to all doors except carriage entrances.
