Offices and warehouse. 1905-9, by F.E.L.Harris, dated 1907; rear block dated 1903. Red brick with dressings of polished granite and sandstone (roof concealed). Large rectangular plan. Neo-Baroque style. Four storeys with basement and full attic storey, 9 bays divided 3:3:3 by giant pilasters, and by coupled Corinthian columns at attic level, plus canted corners finished as drums at attic level. Massive round-headed central doorway with flanking niches and side windows set in black polished granite surround with frieze lettered "COOPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY LIMITED"; segmental-headed basement windows; large canted mullion-and-transom windows to ground and 1st floors; giant colonnades to 2nd and 3rd floors, the 3rd floor windows with keyed open segmental pediments; small attic windows set in large round-headed arcades rising from paired free-standing Doric columns, roundels between the heads of the arches; balustraded parapet. Return sides similar. Rear faces Federation Street.Interior not inspected.
