Details

TQ 32 SW HAYWARDS HEATH LUCASTES AVENUE 4/130 Lucas's 10.9.51 GV II * House. Late C16 timber framed building refronted in early C19 and restored C20. Ground floor red brick and grey headers on sandstone plinth, first floor tile hung. Steeply pitched roof hipped to right and half-hipped with gablet to left. 2 storeys, 4 windows; modern casements with 3, 4 or 5 lights. Central doorcase with flat weatherboard on brackets. Multiple central brick chimney stack and tall external stack to east with base of sandstone. Dining Room has late C16 panelling of fine quality including overmantel with 5 round headed arches and pilasters, ceiling having spine beam and joists with lambs tongue stops. Late C16 dogleg staircase with turned balusters and square newels, probably resited. Shown on 1638 estate map as Edwards House.
