Details

TQ 32 NW CUCKFIELD LONDON ROAD (west side) 1/73 Brocketts 6.4.70 GV II House. Late C17 refronted mid C19 with L-wing to south east. 2 storeys and attics. Main range has ground floor painted brick and first floor hung with curved tiles with diamond patterns in yellow tiles. Tiled roof with end brick stacks (the left hand chimney stack has the date 1726, but the plaque is reset). 2 gabled dormers. 3 windows; 16-pane sashes to first floor set in moulded architraves, ground floor has 2 tripartite windows. Central doorcase with flat hood on brackets, brick pilasters, moulded architrave and modern door. Mid C19 south east wing is brick on ground floor, tile hung on first floor having 1 tripartite sash with horns. Interior has C17 chamfered spine beam with lamb's tongue stops and 2 panelled doors with L-hinges.
