BOXGROVE EASTHAMPNETT ROAD SU 90 NW 14/46 Nos 1 & 2 Oldbury Cottages 15.3.83 - II
House, formerly hall-house. C16 with C17 and C19 alterations. Random flint with red brick dressings on moulded brick plinth, except right-hand bay which is of brick. Plain tiled hipped roof with catslide extension to rear. Ridge stack to right, massive stone-dressed end chimney-breast to left. Two storeys; irregular fenestration of four windows on 1st floor and three windows on ground floor, all casements, the two to left on the ground floor with segment-head. Two entrances, that to right with boarded door, both in segment-head surrounds, paired off-centre to left. Interior: crownpost roof. Easternmost bay probably solar wing, rebuilt in C17 and modified later. Westernmost bay service end and could be a C16 cross-wing.
