NORTH STREET 1. 972 (East Side) Nos 84 & 85 SU 8604 4/51 II GV 2. C18 front to an older timber-framed building. Old tiled steeply pitched roof With higher ridge line than No, 83. 3 storeys and attic; lower frontage than No 83. Small stack at north end of roof, and stack behind at south end. 1 flat roofed dormer over south end of No 85. Moulded eaves cornice with modillions. 4 windows; sash windows with flush boxes with glazing bars intact in the second floor windows of No 85; others missing. Window blind covers above first floor windows of No 85. C20 plate-glass shop front to No 84; later C19 shop front to No 85. Panelling and timber-framed construction visible inside; said to have been built on the site of a medieval church; traces of a passageway with medieval stone arch in cellar.

The Market House, Technical Institute No 83 to 87 (consec) form a group.
