LEATHERHEAD CHURCH STREET TQ 1656 SE (east side) 12/123 No.31 (Surrey House) and attached railings
GV II
House, now office, and attached railings. Mid C19 remodelling of earlier build. Colour-washed stucco (roof concealed by parapet). Double-depth plan. Classical style. Two storeys and 3 bays over a cellar, symmetrical; raised quoins, 1st floor sill-band, and parapet with coping matching the band; the central doorway is protected by an open-fronted rectangular porch with pilastered corners, plain frieze, dentilled cornice, and balustraded parapet; attached to each side of this are slender wrought-iron bar railings with dog-bars, and gates in the returned ends; the ground floor has tripartite sashed windows (the side lights very narrow) in architraves with moulded sills and cornices, the 1st floor has slightly smaller sashed windows with similar surrounds, and margin panes imitating the side lights of those below, and all these windows have horizontal glazing bars. Interior not inspected.
