ASHTEAD AGATES LANE TQ/15/NE (west side) 3/4 Barn approx. 10 metres south-east of Murreys Court

Barn, now stable. Probably C17; altered. Timber frame on brick plinth, with weather-board cladding on south side (front), red tile hanging on north side, red tiled roof. Rectangular 3-bay plan with opposed wagon entrances in the centre, that in the front furnished with wooden double doors, but the other now blocked; to the left, the 1st bay (formerly used as a cowshed) has a doorway near the left corner; to the right, the 3rd bay has a small glazed window at the upper level and a small wooden loading door to the right of this. Attached at the right-hand end is a lean-to addition in matching materials. The rear wall is of red tiles with fish-scale bands. Interior: post-and-beam construction with close studs and passing braces (up from rail to post), cross-frames with convex braces to the tie-beams, Queen-post roof trusses with one tier of butt-purlins, and common rafters without a ridge.
