OCKLEY C.P. STANE STREET TQ 14SW The Green 7/228 The Cottage 11/11/66 GV II

House. C17, extended and altered in C18 and early C19. (circa 1830). Timber framed with whitewashed brick cladding to front left; brick extensions, white- washed to right, red brick to left under tile hung first floor on return front. Hipped plain tiled roof to left of centre, Horsham slabs on roofs-to right and left. L-shaped plan, old house to left of centre, refaced in C18 and with early C19 double gabled range projecting to right, later C19 extension set back to left. Two diagonal C19 stacks to right under dentilled tops, older stacks to left and rear. Two storeys, with plinth to left, plat band over ground floor and to base of parapet which obscures three hipped roofs. Two first floor windows at different levels, one of three-lights with triple arched leading to each. Left hand window raised and breaking up into plat band; similar window below to left and 3/4-glazed door to right in angle with extensions with margin tracery. Former door to right of centre now blocked. Double gable range to right, each gable with one cambered head window on each floor. Three arched leaded lights to first floor windows, larger mullioned and transomed windows below, with hexagonal and diamond-pattern tracery. Single storey extension to left hand return front, set back, with door in end. Stacks to left.
