4/115 Glanville Tomb, 5 metres north of North Chapel of Church of St. John

GV II

Tomb. 1717/8. Limestone on stepped stone base and panelled pedestal approximately four feet high. Cornice top and fielded panels on sides over moulded base. Crowning urn, approximately 2½ feet high on stepped plinth in Acanthus moulded socket. Garland and cherub decoration on urn itself with gadrooned top and flame finial. Inscription tablet on north side of pedestal. Railed surround with urn finials to angles and four rails missing from north side. Dedicated to William Glanville, nephew of John Evelyn.
