2/156 Home Farm House GV II

Farm House. 1881, dated on chimney. Red and brown brick below, applied timber frame above to right and on right hand return front; tile hung to first floor left,some in fishscale bands. Steeply pitched Roman pantile roofs with ridge crest. T-shaped plan with gable end to right and at right angles to road. Two storeys and attics with tall multiple stacks to left end and ribbed and decorated multiple stack to ridge on cross wing. Entrance front:- First floor projects on gable to right with end brackets and moulded bressumer. One 4-light casement window to first floor between tension bracing; 10-light mullioned and transomed window across the ground floor with narrow side return lights in flanking herring- bone brick bays. One ground floor window to left with diagonal brick dentil course above. Door to centre in deep porch recess. Ogee arch over entrance and chamfered posts supporting brackets to either side. Half-glazed door. Right hand return front (facing road):- Gabled dormer to right in gable end range, single storey, flat-roofed extension to right. Left hand return front (facing yard):- Ground floor window set diagonally across the corner; further door in cat- slide set back to left. Part of an unusually complete late example of a model farm.
