Details
SU 9949SE GUILDFORD HIGH STREET (South Side) 8/92 No. 70 GV II House, now shop. C17 core, extended to front in late C19 and restored and altered in C20. Timber framed core, clad on right hand return front in colourwashed rough- cast, C19 tile hanging on front with bands of fishscale pattern tiles and plain- tiled roof. Two storeys and attics, gable-end on to street with deep, dentilled bargeboards, spherical finials to ends and pendant spike finial to gable apex. Stacks to rear. Two-light leaded attic casement window under cornice hood with plat band below on 4 small scrolled brackets. 4-light leaded window on the first floor flanked by single light leaded windows under common cornice hood. C20 plate glass and brick tile shop front below. Right hand return front (facing Chapel Street):- Jettied on first floor, left half,with two windows over blind ground floor. Fixed plate glass window to right half with two small under eaves windows above. Interior:- some ceiling frames visible in upper rooms of rear range. Included for group value.
