TQ 04 NW SHALFORD CP HORSHAM ROAD
4/149 Gosden House School 14.6.67 II House, now school. Early C19. Rendered cladding, whitewashed and incised on right hand extension, hipped slate roofs with deep eaves to main block.
Main block: two storeys and mezzanine on plinth with wide plat band over ground and first floors. Stacks to left and right of centre. Regular four bay front with square sash windows to mezzanine storey, tall, 12- pane glazing bar sash windows to ground and first floors. Doubled half glazed doors in stilted arch surround to left of centre under flat roofed porch with two Doric columns carrying entablature. Extension: three bays, two storeys high with plat band and parapet over first floor. Stack to rear right. 12-pane glazing bar sash windows on first floor, two 8-pane glazing bar sash windows below flanking central 15-pane window. Left hand return front: three bays with outer tripartite sash windows.
Rear: round bay to left with deep eaves and tripartite sash windows. Three bay pedimented wing to left with giant Doric angle pilasters and end order to three bays. Single storey extension surround and extend further from the wing.
Interior: Hall - two columns with egg and dart moulding to capitals. Fireplace surround to left with "oeil de boeuf" over mantle, egg and dart mouldings and garlands.
Undergoing restoration at time of resurvey.
