4/155 Chilworth Church of St. Thomas
II
Formerly Greshambury Institute. Now church. 1896 by W.H. Seth-Smith. Red brick with hipped concrete tile roofs, swept out to eaves. Wooden lantern with ogee shaped lead dome and crowning crucifix. Square pavilion with lower range to left and wing at right angles to rear. Two storeys with battered corner buttresses and continuous leaded clerestory under overhanging eaves with tiled pentice sills. Cambered head, 4-light leaded casements to ground floor left and right, one 6-light window in lower range to left facing street, two in left hand return front. Gabled porch to centre with half glazed sides. Bargeboard, planked double door to front. Louvred lantern with battering angle buttresses and small sphere finials to corners.
Interior: painted brick walls with four ribs from corners rising to meet in centre of roof. Altar recess to rear wall.
