5/111 Gate Lodge to Crowhurst Place 9/3/82 GV II

Gate lodge. Circa 1920 by George Crawley. Timber framed, exposed with rendered infill on snecked rubble plinth; Horsham slab hipped roof with triple square and triangular stacks to left of centre and to right end. 2 storeys; central jettied gabled semi-dormer with decorated barge-boards all on moulded bressumer. First floor jettied on braces and dragon beams with posts to angles. Octagonal oriel window below on coved support, two 3-light first floor windows to left, one 4-light window to right. Central arched throughway with triangular Tudor style arch and decorated spandrels on moulded shafts. Two ground floor mullion and transome windows. 8-light to left 6-light to right. Boarded door with decorated strap hinges to right of central arch. Jetty continued around to rear elevation of Wealden type with jettied outer first floor bays and recessed centre behind flying braces.
